Undoubtedly, the first months of the year were filled with high-quality games.

The days pass like water, and before we know it, we're already in the second half of the year. Looking back, we'll discover that the first 6 months saw the release of incredible games that thrilled players, with some poised to succeed in the upcoming award season. That being said, which ones are the best?

This week, the website Metacritic shared the list of the top 20 best video games of the first half of 2023. While some titles are expected, there are also some interesting surprises.

The list includes games released between January 1 and June 30 of this year. They are ranked based on the average score given by specialized critics. For multi-platform games, only the version with the highest number of reviews was considered. Compilations, DLC packages, and simple re-releases were excluded.

What are the best games of 2023 so far?

It's worth noting that two companies dominate the top rankings. That's right, Nintendo and Capcom occupy the first four spots, while Electronic Arts takes the fifth position. Square Enix also secured privileged positions with two projects that generated a lot of buzz upon their release.

Following closely, Metroid Prime Remastered takes second place with 94. Resident Evil 4 Remake completes the podium with a rating of 93, while Street Fighter 6 secures the fourth position with 92 points.
