Players report experiencing issues with Square Enix's new JRPG

Final Fantasy XVI debuted a few days ago and generally met the high expectations of many fans. Unfortunately, it appears that one of the problems present in the free demo still persists in the final version, leaving the community scratching their heads.

As we mentioned before the official release, fans reported that the free demo of Square Enix's JRPG caused PlayStation 5 consoles to overheat and display an error message. Multiple users reported similar problems, particularly in a specific section of the game.

Fans claim their PlayStation 5 consoles overheat due to Final Fantasy XVI

Although it seems to be a sporadic issue that only some fans experience during their gaming sessions, the reports persist, and many users indicate that Final Fantasy XVI causes the Sony next-gen console to overheat and shut down.

Note: The attached image in one of the posts may contain spoilers for one of the game's bosses.

"I experienced my first overheating shutdown on my PS5 since launch while playing Final Fantasy XVI. It happened during this scene. Some others experienced the same problem. Apparently, it only affects the Quality Mode," stated a user on Twitter.

"It happened to me today in the exact same place, 3 times. So I reinstalled the game and let the PS5 rest for about 1 hour. It worked (...) I've never had this issue with any other game, and I had never received an overheating message before," another person mentioned on Reddit. "This happened to me today in the same scene, so I switched to Performance Mode just to be safe," another player indicated.

Certainly, these issues seem to occur more regularly at a specific point in the game while using the Quality Mode, which increases the resolution and has a 30 fps limit. Many users claimed that their PlayStation 5 consoles are clean and in a well-ventilated location.

If this is indeed a game error, we hope that Square Enix is aware of the issue and provides a solution as soon as possible. Of course, cleaning the PS5 is always a good option, especially during this hot summer season.

But tell us, are you experiencing similar problems? Let us know in the comments.
