Earlier this year, Microsoft announced the layoff of at least 10,000 employees from its various divisions. This affected Xbox and several of its studios, so Phil Spencer, head of the brand, sent several messages of support to those affected.
Surprisingly, Microsoft announced another wave of additional layoffs that will affect several of its departments. A company spokesman explained that the adjustments were unavoidable, as the regulation of its business depended on it. Fortunately, these layoffs did not affect Xbox.
Layoffs continue to hit Microsoft
Microsoft announced this week the elimination of more jobs in various areas. This wave of layoffs comes on top of the one earlier this year, so the cuts were larger than expected. According to details, Microsoft recently laid off 276 people.
Sources reveal that 210 people were part of its Redmond, Washington offices. While the rest were employees working remotely. These layoffs impacted the customer service departments, the sales team and the support staff.
As we told you, everything indicates that Xbox was spared and none of its workers were affected by the layoffs. Through a statement, Microsoft briefly talked about the recent wave of layoffs and its future plans.
“Organizational and workforce adjustments are a necessary and regular part of managing our business. We will continue to prioritize and invest in strategic growth areas for our future and in support of our customers and partners,” Microsoft said.
