Today was a day of surprises for gamers from the 90s generation as the return of some classics in remastered versions was confirmed. We just talked about the upcoming remaster of the first Clock Tower, and now it's time for one of the iconic platformers from those years.
Gex is back!
Limited Run Games announced the return of Gex, a franchise of 2D and 3D platforming games that enjoyed success during the 90s and was developed by Crystal Dynamics. According to the presentation, it is a remastered trilogy (or perhaps a remake) of the 3 titles that were released over 20 years ago. Although there is no release window, its debut on PS4, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC has been confirmed. The return of Gex took place in true James Bond style.

Gex made its debut in the mid-90s during the wave of platformers and mascots that sought to achieve the success of Super Mario, Sonic, and Donkey Kong. The first title in this franchise, Gex, was released in 1995 for 3DO and later had ports for PlayStation and SEGA Saturn with a 2D approach.
The advent of 3D in gaming led to an era of platformers that took advantage of new technologies and possibilities, and in the case of this IP, that happened with the releases of Gex: Enter the Gecko in 1998 and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko in 1999, earning critical acclaim and fan recognition.
