Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is one of the most highly anticipated releases for the PlayStation 5, and Sony doesn't plan to let this hype go to waste. That's why, during the San Diego Comic-Con 2023, they decided to announce a special edition of the PlayStation 5 in celebration of the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
The Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PlayStation 5 is a console that stands out with its design inspired by the game's plot. It shows the symbiote slowly approaching the Spider-Man symbol, symbolizing Peter Parker letting the symbiote take control.

Of course, the console won't come alone and will be accompanied by a special edition DualSense controller. This controller follows a similar idea to the console's design, but here the symbiote has more control, with only a tiny part of the controller showing Spider-Man's red.
"The design is inspired by the game's symbiote that takes over the console and the controller, but you can still see some of the underlying red beneath the tentacles. This represents the different ways players will experience the symbiote's takeover in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. It's a constant tug of war for dominance, whether internal or external, and the outcome is not certain," said Jacinda Chaaw, Design Director at Insomniac Games.
It's worth mentioning that the Spider-Man PlayStation 5 also includes a digital copy of the standard edition of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The console will be available for pre-order starting July 28th and will be released in September. The price has not been confirmed yet.
You won't need to buy a new PS5 to have the design of Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Would you like to have this console, but already own a PlayStation 5? Don't worry! You won't have to sell your console to get a new one. Sony will also sell covers with the same design.
Sony will sell Marvel's Spider-Man 2 covers for both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition. Additionally, they will offer the DualSense controller separately. The price of these products is currently unknown, but it is expected to be cheaper than buying a new console. Plus, it will save you the trouble of getting rid of your current console.
