Final Fantasy XIV excited fans this morning by sharing several updates, such as its new expansion and the arrival of the MMORPG on Xbox, but that's not all! Square Enix also confirmed that you'll need a more powerful PC to run the game, but it will also look better.
According to Square Enix, the minimum and recommended requirements for Final Fantasy XIV will change with the arrival of Patch 7.0. This is because the game will receive several graphical improvements, such as better models and shadows.
As a point of comparison, the previous minimum requirements for Final Fantasy XIV asked for 4 GB of RAM and a processor like the Intel Core i5 at 2.4GHz. Now, you'll need 8 GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7-6700 or higher. As for the graphics card, before it asked for a GTX 750, and now you require a GTX 970.
Thus, the new minimum and recommended requirements for Final Fantasy XIV are as follows:
Minimum Requirements for Final Fantasy XIV
- Operating System ― Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU ― Intel Core i7-6700 or higher
- RAM ― 8 GB or more
- Storage ― 140 GB or more on HDD
- GPU ― NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or higher | AMD Radeon RX 480 or higher
- Resolution ― 1280x720
Recommended Requirements for Final Fantasy XIV
- Operating System ― Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU ― Intel Core i7-9700 or higher
- RAM ― 16 GB or more
- Storage ― 140 GB or more on SSD
- GPU ― NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or higher | AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT or higher

That Final Fantasy XIV changes its minimum and recommended requirements should not come as a surprise. After all, it is an MMORPG that debuted 10 years ago and has evolved significantly since its release on PC, even being available on three different console generations. With that in mind, it's normal for the requirements to run Final Fantasy XIV to have changed.
