If you are a Google Drive user and enjoy using its official application, pay attention because the following information might interest you. As of today, August 1, 2023, Google has decided to end support for the Google Drive desktop application on Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 (32-bit). As a result, users of this application won't be able to use it to upload files or sync their folders.
The reason for this decision has not been officially explained by Google. However, it's worth noting that Microsoft has already ended security support for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, so Google might have followed suit. Additionally, the user base of Google Drive on these operating systems might be small, making it not cost-effective to continue supporting them.
But what does this mean for users of Google Drive on Windows 8? Do they have to give up on using Google Drive? Fortunately, no. This decision only marks the end of support for the desktop application. Users of Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and 32-bit Windows 10 can still access Google Drive through any web browser.
Alternatively, if their computer is compatible, they may consider updating to a more recent version of Windows to continue using the Google Drive desktop app.
Do you know anyone who uses Google Drive on these versions of Windows? Let us know in the comments.
