The arrival of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to PS4 and Xbox One upset some members of the community

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S have been on the market for several years now; however, some gamers feel that the new generation has yet to take off. Part of the community is upset, feeling that companies have not taken full advantage of the current consoles in part by continuing to focus on PS4 and Xbox One.

The confirmation of a port of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for those consoles was the straw that broke the camel's back, as many gamers were enraged by the current state of the new generation which, from their perspective, is a deception and a failure.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users are not happy with the generation

Several gamers recalled that Respawn Entertainment justified the absence of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PS4 and Xbox One on the technical side. The studio claimed that the game would only be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S to take full advantage of the potential of that hardware.

Now that the title has been confirmed for last-gen consoles, some of the community is furious. While this is good news for thousands of gamers who haven't made the jump to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, many see it as the failure of the most recent generation.

“We absolutely have to admit the current console gen is a failure," stated one gamer. Many shared this sentiment, believing that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have not really taken off and that their games have not reached the potential they should.

From the perspective of some gamers, this is because studios are unwilling to abandon the huge PS4 and Xbox One player base. Others believe that marketing is forcing studios to announce PS5 and Xbox Series X|S-only games that might as well run on past-generation consoles.

The problem for others is that the generational leap doesn't really represent very big changes that can be seen with the naked eye, leaving some fans disappointed.

"Three years in and still, barely any games take advantage of current gen capabilities, they raised the cost for these games too, biggest scam,” said another annoyed player

"While I think there are some great games out there on the new systems, there's very few games that justify a $500 console. Most games are playable on Xbox One and PS4 anyways," added another user.
