As you probably know, when this Hoyoverse project was launched in 2020, a significant portion of the community compared it to the then most recent installment of The Legend of Zelda.

Because of this, President Liu "Dawei" Wei wanted to take advantage of Genshin Impact FES 2023 in Shanghai, China to talk about how the team felt upon receiving these quite serious accusations.

Here you can see it:

"The lack of an engine and the inexperience in creating an open-world game made the development of Genshin Impact more challenging than the studio had anticipated. However, the development team rejuvenated after completing Mondstadt in 2019. Unfortunately, the response to the closed Beta caused some to see the game in an unexpected way," said Wei without mentioning the Nintendo game.

It's worth mentioning that the executive stated that many of his colleagues were crying and saying, "Why is this happening?" and "What have we done wrong?" which motivated him to help players better understand their proposal.

In the end, it seems that everything turned out well for Wei and his team, who managed to satisfy the community with Genshin Impact, a game that is available for free on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices.
