Fortunately, 2023 has proven to be an excellent year for gaming enthusiasts, as the first half was packed with very good games. The best part? Everything indicates that the good streak will continue. One of the upcoming releases is Starfield, which has generated much anticipation and is already making its mark on Steam.
Despite its official release date being set for September 6th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, Bethesda's new video game has already showcased its popularity on the Valve platform.
STARFIELD it's a hit ON STEAM
Excluding free-to-play games, Starfield was the third best-selling game on Steam during the past week, according to data from the statistical site SteamDB. The first place is held by the universally acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3, while the second spot is occupied by Valve's handheld console.
Although the exact number of units sold isn't provided, it's impressive that pre-orders for Bethesda's new RPG secured a place on the list of top-selling products on Steam during the week of August 8th to 15th. To put its popularity into perspective, it surpassed Call of Duty, Remnant II, The Elder Scrolls Online, Sengoku Dynasty, Grand Theft Auto V and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
This situation presents a promising future for Starfield. Let's remember that it will be available day 1 on Xbox Game Pass. While thousands of players will be able to enjoy it at no additional cost thanks to the subscription service, it's interesting to know that many fans have purchased or plan to purchase their own copy.
Of course, it will be fascinating to see how the ambitious space-themed role-playing game performs once it officially hits stores in early September.
