David Harbour, known for his roles in shows like Stranger Things and the upcoming Gran Turismo movie, is a lifelong gamer. However, unlike many other gamers who eagerly share their hobby, Harbour prefers to keep his gaming interests private.

Although many players openly discuss their passion for gaming, others keep it hidden due to various reasons, much like the 80% of NBA players who secretly enjoy anime.

David Harbour: A Lifelong Gamer

David Harbour is one of those reserved gamers who prefers to keep his hobby personal. He is not just any gamer; he is a veteran in the world of electronic entertainment and has even become engrossed in the charms of various games.

In an interview with Josh Horowitz ahead of the release of the Gran Turismo movie, Harbour mentioned that he was around 7 years old when his parents bought him a Magnavox Odyssey², which he says marked the beginning of a "lifelong affair" with gaming. He admitted that this affection affected his concentration, tasks, and even relationships.

However, the world only found out about his passion a few months ago because he had kept it hidden until recently—not because he's embarrassed, but because he values immersion. Harbour stated, "This obsession with this incredible sort of fantasy world that you can get into these things [video games]."

Harbour elaborated further, confessing that he's the type of gamer who prefers RPGs, as he enjoys diving into details like equipment, attributes, and other characteristic elements of the genre that make players feel the power of progression and increased strength to defeat enemies.

He mentioned that gaming is "a private thing" for him, and he doesn't like to share it with colleagues he has worked with on movies. However, he acknowledged that the public's response to his confession of being a gamer has been "phenomenal."

"It's my world that I get into," Harbour said. "When I go into my fantasy world, I'm sitting in my comfortable chair, I log in, I get into it, and I'm involved with all these non-real people even in real life, and I go with them, but I wouldn't want to sit next to Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and play with him."

It's worth noting that David Harbour not only loves playing video games but also participating in them. In fact, he will be starring alongside Jodie Comer in the upcoming Alone in the Dark remake.
