Starfield is days away and the controversies about the space RPG are getting more and more heated. Now, a part of the community started a controversy that caught the attention of many and divided the opinion of the community. It all started when a Steam user asked if Starfield will be a "woke game".
Some players fear that the awaited title is full of what they call "pro agenda", with very specific political and social ideas with which they do not reconcile. There are even people who claim they will not buy the title if this happens. This generated a heated debate where, in the end, the least important thing was Starfield.
Gamers claim they won't play Starfield "if it's woke"
Some gamers believe that the discussion about whether Starfield will be a woke game is pointless. Several users claimed that it is a waste of time and that people who care should not buy the RPG.
On the other hand, there are people who, it seems, are genuinely distressed that the RPG has any elements that they consider "woke". Proof of this is that there are comments stating that they will not purchase or will return the title if this happens.
There are also people who are convinced that the game will have "agenda", but in the end they believe it won't be a problem as it is supposedly something "normal" in several modern western games. The discussion thread has over 900 comments, so a clash between positions was inevitable.
"The game logo on things like the headset and controller accessories closely resembles a stylized, miniature Pride rainbow. We're apparently presented with pronouns to select for our character at the start of the game," said one player.
"If you care that much, a large part of gaming's likely no longer meant for you. If you have to ask, assume it's yes even if it's really not. It'll save everyone time, including yourself," commented another user.
"I'm absolutely certain somebody is going to get upset about something in this game they're being forced to play," said someone else.
