Mod Removes One of the Most Controversial Elements of Starfield, but Also Breaks the Game

The "Invisible Walls" Stirred Controversy Before the Release of Bethesda's RPG

Starfield, Bethesda's new role-playing video game, is here. Overall, it met expectations and captivated thousands of players. While it received very positive feedback, there are some elements that caused controversy among a portion of the community. As expected, modders have already taken action to provide solutions.

Although we can land on any planet to explore it freely, there are "invisible walls" that mark the boundaries of the game world. When we reach these barriers, a text message appears inviting us to return to the ship or visit another region of the world.

In the days leading up to the release, fans stirred controversy over these "invisible walls." A segment of the community argued that these barriers break immersion and limit exploration.

Mod Removes Starfield's Invisible Walls

Perhaps aware of the controversy surrounding this debate, a modder known as Draspian designed a special modification that disables the limits of the planets. This allows players to go beyond the invisible walls.

Additionally, a mod developed by NexusGuy999 allows players to increase the number of landing points that can be marked on planets. While these modifications expand exploration, there's some bad news.

In the description, modder Draspian stated that his project causes Starfield to become very unstable. While the idea of exploring planets without limits is very appealing, "after a certain point, the game just crashes." However, he is confident that better tools will emerge to help address this issue.

In a similar vein, NexusGuy999's modification may also have performance issues. "I did not extensively test this mod, especially on newer versions. Use it at your own risk," cautioned the author in the description.

So, it appears that there is still no entirely reliable option to bypass the limits of Starfield.

But tell us, what do you think of these projects? Do you believe the "invisible walls" are a problem? We'd love to hear from you in the comments.

Starfield is available for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
