Blizzard continues to improve its anti-cheat systems to maintain a fair competitive environment

Overwatch 2, like other competitive games, has faced the issue of dealing with cheaters who want to ruin the experience for others. That's why Blizzard Entertainment has taken action to eliminate cheaters, and since the game's launch, they have banned over 250,000 cheaters.

In a new blog post, Blizzard Entertainment shared details about the measures they have taken to combat "disruptive behavior" and "cheating" in Overwatch 2. All of this is to make clear the steps they are taking to eliminate behaviors that negatively impact the multiplayer experience.

"These efforts are the result of a dedicated team of developers, investigators, and community experts, all working to improve our existing systems while finding new ways to counteract disruptive behaviors," Blizzard explained.

According to the developer, as part of this process, they have detected and banned more than 250,000 accounts for cheating. However, they acknowledge that the journey doesn't end there, and they are already looking for ways to strengthen their systems to combat more cheaters. They also recognize the need for community assistance in achieving this goal.

"We are continually refining our cheating detection and prevention systems to fortify the game against cheats and bots. Your reports help us identify new cheating programs as well as cheating players, so please continue to report them!" Blizzard said.

Later, Blizzard explained that the team has been working on new ways to improve the text chat experience. This is to make it easier to detect toxic behavior and filter it out. In this way, players won't have to read messages from individuals with toxic attitudes.

"Our filters are constantly updated, but so is the lexicon of online culture. If you see someone using offensive language that isn't being filtered or someone circumventing our filters using altered or misspelled text, please report it in-game for harmful communication," the studio mentioned.
