The Nintendo Direct was filled with exciting announcements, and as it's becoming customary, there was room for JRPGs. On this occasion, Square Enix took advantage of Nintendo's stage to confirm that SaGa will be back with a completely new installment set to debut in 2024.

We're talking about SaGa Emerald Beyond, a brand new and entirely original adventure that will bring back the iconic franchise. In this installment, you'll be able to follow a roster of unique heroes to experience 5 different stories. In fact, you can choose from 6 different protagonists to start your story and explore 17 beautiful worlds.

"SaGa Emerald Beyond expands on the free-form narrative system that defines the SaGa franchise, offering players the freedom to shape their story, changing with every decision and action taken. The trailer also showcases the strategic turn-based combat in action, offering the best iteration of combat in the SaGa franchise," Square Enix stated.

When will SaGa Emerald Beyond debut? Which consoles will it arrive on?

Sounds exciting, doesn't it? But when will it be available? According to Square Enix, SaGa Emerald Beyond will debut at some point in 2024. So, there's still quite a while before we can get our hands on it.

The good news is that, even though it was showcased in a Nintendo Direct, SaGa Emerald Beyond will not be exclusive to Nintendo Switch. In fact, it's a multi-platform release that you'll be able to play on the following platforms:

  • PlayStation 5
  • PlayStation 4
  • PC
  • iOS
  • Android
