This week brought news that hit The Last of Us fans like a bucket of cold water. Just days after ]celebrating the somber The Last of Us Day 2023, they learned that the multiplayer was facing issues[/url], and unfortunately, a new clue adds weight to the reports.
Just a year ago, Neil Druckmann, president of Naughty Dog and the mastermind behind the The Last of Us franchise, shared the latest on the ambitious multiplayer project. While the project was known to be in development, employees might be distancing themselves from the game.
Is Naughty Dog Starting to Abandon The Last of Us Multiplayer?
We say this after checking the LinkedIn profile of Anders Howard, the principal monetization designer for Naughty Dog's multiplayer project, who updated his profile to indicate that he left the California-based studio last September, aligning with rumors about the project's troubled development.
Howard has experience in designing game systems, including the economy, and has worked at companies like Zynga, Epic Games, and Ubisoft. He joined Naughty Dog in November 2022 to handle "game system design and product leadership" for The Last of Us multiplayer.

There is a possibility that the designer is no longer with the studio because he completed his task, but it sounds more likely that he left the project due to its stagnation, judging by recent reports indicating that Naughty Dog is reportedly cutting staff, and Howard could be one of them.
Neither Naughty Dog nor PlayStation has commented on the matter. We will keep you informed.
