Will subscribers be able to enjoy this Naughty Dog masterpiece at no additional cost?

Just like Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus is a subscription service that allows users to enjoy an extensive library of games and trials at no extra cost. It is updated every month with new offerings, and it seems that sooner or later, it will welcome one of the most controversial exclusives from PS4 and PS5.

We're talking about none other than The Last of Us: Part II, the controversial sequel to the 2013 video game. Although this information is not yet official, an interesting clue seems to indicate that it's only a matter of time before it joins one of the subscription tiers of Sony's service.

Will The Last of Us: Part II come to PlayStation Plus?

As discovered by a Reddit user, Naughty Dog's game appeared in a promotional banner on the PS Store related to PS Plus. The image also shows Horizon Forbidden West by Guerrilla Games and Hogwarts Legacy by Warner Bros. Games.

While Aloy's game has been available at no extra cost through PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium since February, the game set in the world of Harry Potter offers a 45-minute trial for all Premium subscribers since June. Thus, The Last of Us: Part II is the only game not available in any way on the service.

Since the remake of the original installment is already available as a trial on PS Plus Premium, it's not far-fetched to think that the sequel could join the service at some point. However, it's best to temper expectations.

In the event that Ellie's adventure comes to the service, it might not be in October. According to a prestigious insider, the list of games available this month has already been leaked.

A remaster of The Last of Us: Part II might be in the works

Certainly, there have been days with many updates about Naughty Dog's flagship franchise. While a recent report predicts a bleak future for the multiplayer spin-off, another rumor suggests that the sequel could receive an enhanced version.

Specifically, Mark Pajarillo, an artist who worked at the development studio, added The Last of Us: Part II Remaster to his LinkedIn profile, indicating that the project is underway. To this situation, we must add the statements of musician Gustavo Santaolalla, who hinted that the game will have a new version.

But tell us, do you think Naughty Dog's controversial game will come to PS Plus? Would you like it to have a remaster? Let us know in the comments.

The Last of Us: Part II is available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
