Nintendo Switch will soon celebrate its 7th year in the market, dangerously approaching the end of the console's lifecycle. Nintendo has not officially announced the successor system, but apparently, the Pokémon studio already has this system in mind for its upcoming projects.
Considering the advanced lifecycle of the Nintendo Switch, fans fear that Pokémon Scarlet & Violet might be the final mainline entries in the series to come to the system, including remasters or spin-offs of the main series, such as Pokémon Legends. A new clue suggests that this may indeed be the case.
When will the new Pokémon game be released?
We say this after informant Zippo shared a new report online indicating that a new Pokémon game would support Nintendo's next console in its early months of existence.
Let's remember that rumors and reports suggest that the successor to Nintendo Switch would debut between September and November 2024, so the new Pokémon game would arrive in 2025 or perhaps earlier, coinciding with the year-end window that The Pokémon Company typically reserves for releasing mainline series games (excluding Pokémon Legends).
The downside is that the report doesn't offer many details, but it's normal for Nintendo's internal studios or second-party allies to already be working on the next console, especially Game Freak, as Pokémon is one of Nintendo's most powerful franchises.

It's important to remember that Zippo's information has often proven accurate, but it's not flawless, so we advise taking this information with caution.
A new Super Mario 3D game and a new Super Monkey Ball game would join the Pokémon game, which would also be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Will Pokémon Scarlet & Violet be the last games in the series on Nintendo Switch?
It seems almost impossible that this is a new installment of the original series, as Pokémon Scarlet & Violet debuted just 1 year ago. Therefore, for the supposed new Nintendo console's launch, it would only have been on the market for 1 year. To put it in context, Pokémon Sword & Shield debuted in 2019, and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet in 2022.
Given this, it's more likely that Zippo is referring to a cross-generational game, perhaps the remake of Pokémon Black & White or a new Pokémon Legends.
At the moment, there is no information about any new Pokémon game (not a spin-off) in development for Nintendo Switch. Therefore, it should not be ruled out that Pokémon Scarlet & Violet might be the last entries to arrive on this system, especially considering that Part 2 of the The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC is scheduled for early 2024.
