Pokémon GO was a massive sensation when it was first released to the extent that not only did millions of people neglect their daily duties to play it, but also police officers, as evidenced by two officers who ignored a call from their colleagues while busy searching for Pokémon.
You might recall an infuriating case in 2017 where two officers from the Los Angeles Police Department neglected their duties during working hours by not responding to a call requesting reinforcements to thwart a robbery.
Officers neglected their duties to catch a Snorlax in Pokémon GO
Today, the police department released digital footage recorded by the in-car camera, capturing conversations between the two officers about the game. It shows them using the police vehicle to cruise around in search of Snorlax after ignoring calls for backup.
The case didn't end there; the department took legal action after a captain reviewed the recorded material.

According to ABC7, both officers tried to have the recordings dismissed, arguing that they were private conversations. However, the United States District and Appeals Courts did not consider it as such and denied their request.
In the end, both officers couldn't evade justice and were fired a year later.
