Five Nights at Freddy's: When do the events of the movie occur?

Unlike the original game, the adaptation will showcase events that unfolded over three decades.

With just a few days left until the premiere of Five Nights at Freddy's, after over 8 years of development, the timing of the movie remains unclear despite the trailers setting the premise. However, the project's director has just confirmed it.

The film will be based on the original game that debuted in 2014, but it will have some differences for the adaptation to work. The franchise creator collaborated with the film's creators to ensure that all essential elements were preserved while adjusting others, such as the timeframe of the events in the movie.

When do the events of the movie Five Nights at Freddy's occur?

The project's director, Emma Tammi, was questioned about this and confessed that the movie depicts events that took place in the first decade of the millennium, although she did not specify the exact year in the 2000s.

But Five Nights at Freddy's will not be a movie entirely inspired by this era, as there will be flashbacks or retrospective scenes showing events from the '80s and '90s, as explained by Tammi in an interview with IGN.

Remember that the film will focus on the story of a young man (Mike Schmidt) and his sister (Abby Schmidt), who find themselves (in the 2000s) at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a chain of pizzerias that closed after a mystery in the past. Hence, the movie occasionally jumps from one era to another, and in the trailers, you can catch glimpses of bygone moments when the pizzeria was famous.

La película de Five Nights at Freddy's mostrará eventos de los 80, los 90 y el 2000
