PlayStation 5 debuted almost 3 years ago, and since then, it has received multiple system updates that enhanced performance, added new features, and removed functions. After a long wait, one of the features that fans have been requesting for a long time has finally made its way to the console.
While Sony typically announces patches and provides notes detailing the new changes, it also has the habit of stealthily implementing updates and improvements. For example, a few months ago, it quietly introduced a feature on the PS Store that allows players to rate the games they purchase.
Well, it seems we are once again in a similar situation. Specifically, a new feature was stealthily added to the PlayStation 5 that will help users get a better idea of which video games need an update.
Players Can Review Updates for Their Installed Games on PS5
In an era where patches are an everyday occurrence, it's common for players to start a game only to find out that they have to wait for an update to finish installing. To mitigate this issue, Sony implemented an option that allows users to check when a new update is available for download.
However, this system has a limitation: PlayStation 5 owners can only check if a title needs an update by pressing Option on the icon on the console's main screen. Fortunately, Sony expanded this feature, and now it's also possible to check if installed games need updates from the Library.
"Call me crazy, but this has been there for a while, hasn't it? Pressing the pause button, that's how I've updated [my games]," wrote a user on Reddit. "From the home screen, where it shows your 7-8 recently played titles, you can. But not from the game library where you see all the ones installed on your console."

Although it's a very small change that many players might overlook, it's a useful feature that many users have undoubtedly been requesting for quite some time, especially those who have numerous titles and applications installed on their consoles. "It's crazy that it took them almost 3 years to add this," wrote a fan.
Of course, many players believe there should be a button to review updates for all installed games, while others request the return of the folder system. Perhaps this update is the first step in implementing those features.
According to user comments, this feature is not yet available to everyone. Its implementation may be gradual, so it seems that players will have to wait a bit to enjoy this new function.
But tell us, do you think this option will be useful? Let us know in the comments.
