Report Reveals the Company's Strategy to Conquer Gaming

Video games are becoming increasingly important for Netflix, a service that currently offers an attractive selection of titles across all genres. Apparently, the company wants to complement its catalog with some of the industry's most popular franchises, including Grand Theft Auto.

According to a recent report, Netflix will launch first-party productions based on its most popular series in the future. At the same time, it seeks to supplement its game catalog through significant deals with third parties, such as Take-Two.

Grand Theft Auto on Netflix? It Could Happen in the Future

According to The Wall Street Journal (via VGC), Netflix is cooking up games based on its most popular series. Interestingly, it would seek to complement this offer with attractive titles from third parties. The report ensures that the company is interested in Grand Theft Auto.

There is talk of a possible licensing agreement with Take-Two and Rockstar to bring at least one game from the franchise to Netflix. The idea is for the service to offer increasingly higher-profile games through its cloud gaming service.

In fact, in recent weeks, the company began testing its platform on TVs and computers. In countries like Canada and the UK, it already allows streaming games like Oxenfree and Mining Adventure through the cloud.

If the report is accurate, Netflix would then follow a strategy quite similar to that of Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, where both first-party and third-party titles are offered through the cloud. Netflix would have its sights set on the industry's most popular franchises to attract gamers to its service.
