Recently, GamesIndustry.biz published an article about Xbox's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In it, various industry analysts discussed the impact this acquisition will have on the video game industry.
One of the analysts who gave their opinion was Karol Severin from Midia Research, who stated that PlayStation Plus has the potential to surpass Xbox Game Pass. How? By leveraging one of Sony's greatest strengths.

According to Severin, Sony should leverage its media catalog so that PlayStation Plus offers more than just games. In other words, they could use the subscription to also provide a streaming service for series, movies, and songs that are part of Sony Pictures and Sony Music.
"Sony has one of the most impressive content catalogs on the planet. Bundling it into a subscription offering, for instance, could pose a strong competitive response to Xbox's multi-platform efforts," he explained.
Severin sees this as a good opportunity for Sony since he believes that competing with just games would be complicated. This is because they would have to acquire a major distributor like Take-Two to go toe-to-toe, a situation that seems nearly impossible.
