One of the controversies in gaming during 2023 was the release of Baldur's Gate 3, which bypassed Xbox in a timely manner due to development difficulties, which were later confirmed in relation to the necessary parity for Xbox Series S. In a heated response on Twitter | X, Michael Douse, Head of Publishing at Larian Studios, reaffirmed that the studio's plan is for Baldur's Gate 3 to debut on Xbox Series X|S before the end of the year. What happened was that in an initial post, Michael Douse stated: "Wishing for a video game to fail doesn't make your favorite platform stronger, but buying the games you want to play does." Following that, a user responded sarcastically, pointing out that it's difficult to buy Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox because it hasn't been released:

The comment upset the executive, who responded: "The plan is for it to arrive before the end of the year. This has been said several times, but the guys with 33,000 followers on Twitter keep talking crap to get likes."

The truth is that, so far, the debut of Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox Series X|S for 2023 remains a release window as the studio continues to work on optimization to ensure a smooth release on Microsoft's consoles. In this regard, ]the commitment was to release the role-playing game on both systems, but in the case of the Xbox Series S version, they will initially forgo split-screen cooperative mode.

On the other hand, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, acknowledged that the absence of Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox during its launch was something that Microsoft didn't like and assured that they will work to prevent such situations from happening again, which opens the door to modifications regarding parity commitments for Xbox Series X|S to make it easier for developers.
