In recent months, Netflix has made some decisions that have not been to the liking of its subscribers. In an attempt to make its plan with commercials a little more flexible, the company introduced a new feature that divided user opinion.

Through a press release, the company confirmed that it will allow subscribers to consume certain content without commercials. This will be possible thanks to Binge Ad, a novelty that will arrive in early 2024. The point is that users will have to meet a controversial condition to take full advantage of this feature.

Netflix will remove commercials if you consume more content

Netflix's new feature will debut until next year, but it has already received its first criticisms. The reason? The way it operates. The company will allow its users to watch a chapter of a series without commercials as long as they have watched the previous 3 in a row.

This implies that those interested in taking advantage of Binge Ad will have to spend more time on the platform. According to the details, Netflix studied the viewing habits of its users, who tend to enjoy several chapters consecutively.

For such reason, it decided to create a feature that, in a way, rewards users who consume content continuously with a commercial-free chapter.

"After watching three consecutive episodes, members will be presented with a fourth episode ad-free. In early 2024, we will also launch the ability to showcase QR codes in advertising creative running on Netflix," the company explained.

Some fans think this new feature is interesting as it relaxes the ad-supported subscription a bit. However, other users think it's another regrettable decision on Netflix's part, as it doesn't really offer something of value to subscribers.
