Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a massive game with many references to the mythology of the arachnid superhero from comics. However, there are also easter eggs and nods that allude to real-life personalities and events. In this vein, a fan discovered a beautiful homage to a significant creative from Insomniac Games who, unfortunately, passed away in 2019.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 pays homage to Craig Goodman
While navigating through the city of New York in the PlayStation 5 exclusive, a user known as Toy-Funtime found a mural on one of the walls in Central Park. They turned to Reddit to share their discovery and inquire about the identity of the person depicted.
Community members revealed that the mural in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a tribute to Craig Goodman, a prestigious artist and creative who played a key role in multiple projects at Insomniac Games. Users took advantage of the player's post to remember the work of this talented developer.
It's worth noting that this is not the only tribute to a personality who, unfortunately, passed away in reality. Players can also find a tribute to Chadwick Boseman, the actor known for portraying Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who lost his life due to cancer.
Who was Craig Goodman?
Craig Goodman was a significant creative at Insomniac Games who worked with the company for 15 years, starting from the PlayStation 2 era. He collaborated on major projects, including the original Ratchet & Clank releases, the Resistance series, and the acclaimed Sunset Overdrive.
The artist's final works included Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4 and the first title of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Insomniac Games announced the unfortunate passing of this important creative through a post in 2019.
