Will there be more Resident Evil remakes? Capcom excites fans

It seems that survival horror fans will get to revisit another classic title.

Despite its ups and downs, Resident Evil managed to captivate thousands of fans worldwide over more than 25 years. Certainly, the remakes of the classic titles contributed to the franchise's current success. That being said, should fans expect more enhanced versions of the classics?

The franchise's latest release was Resident Evil 4 Remake, which received universal praise and is nominated for the GOTY at The Game Awards 2023 due to its positive reception. Additionally, it was a commercial success with over 5.45 million copies sold since its debut in March 2023.

On the other hand, the Resident Evil 2 Remake has already surpassed 13 million units sold, while the modern version of Resident Evil 3 boasts 8 million copies shipped. It is clear that these proposals are successful. Will we see more of their kind in the coming years?

Capcom confirms there will be more Resident Evil remakes

Fans of the saga who enjoyed revisiting these classic titles are in luck, as Capcom delivered some great news. Specifically, it revealed that there will indeed be more remakes of the franchise.

During an awards event for PlayStation partners in Japan, Yasuhiro Anpo, director of the new and acclaimed version of Resident Evil 4, confirmed that the recent remakes they released for the franchise were well-received, so they plan to continue with that strategy.

"Yes. We've released 3 remakes so far, and all were very well received. Since they allow a modern audience to play these titles, it's something I'm happy to do as someone who loves these older games, and we want to make more," commented the director.

Unfortunately, Yasuhiro Anpo refrained from revealing which will be the next title in the franchise to receive this treatment and simply stated that they will announce it in the future, urging fans to stay tuned.

The director acknowledges that when making a new game, there is uncertainty about whether the final result will be pleasing to players. In the case of remakes, however, there are already fans of the original work, which is an advantage.

"We are very grateful to users who express their opinions. It allows us to develop with the players' opinions in mind (...) I think this is one of the reasons why our remakes are so well received," highlighted Yasuhiro Anpo in the Q&A session.

As for which game could be the next remake, fans already have some suggestions, from Resident Evil 0 to Resident Evil Code Veronica. According to an informant, the franchise will experience a drought of releases in the coming months, so the announcement of the new project could be far off. In any case, we will have to wait for Capcom to reveal more information officially.

But tell us, which game would you like to be the next remake in the series? Let us know in the comments.
