Five Nights at Freddy’s: Bad news for Xbox and Switch fans

Ruin, the DLC for Security Breach, will take longer to arrive on Microsoft and Nintendo platforms.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is in constant expansion. After the release of its first installment back in 2014, it welcomed sequels and spin-offs. In this line, Security Breach is one of the most eye-catching games in the franchise. Unfortunately, its downloadable content will take longer to arrive on Xbox and Nintendo.

At the end of 2021, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach made its debut, a horror title where players step into the shoes of Gregory, a child who must escape from the Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex shopping center. Later, in 2023, a free DLC was released that expanded the narrative and introduced new characters.

Ruin, the name of the downloadable content, is already available on PC and PlayStation. Unfortunately, the release for Xbox and Nintendo looks very distant.

When will Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach – Ruin debut on Xbox and Switch?

Through an announcement, Ray McCaffrey, executive producer of the developing studio Steel Wool Studios, spoke at length about the release of Help Wanted 2 VR, the latest title in the franchise. He took the opportunity to discuss the ports of additional content from the 2021 title.

The producer recalled that in August 2023, he mentioned they expected to release Security Breach – Ruin at the end of this year on Xbox. Although they were very close to reaching that goal, they will have to delay the release to ensure the quality of the final content.

"If we had rushed, we would have released a product that wasn't tested as much as needed. Inevitably, there would be issues; you would get angry, we would feel like fools, and neither party would have a good time," commented Ray McCaffrey in the statement.

The Steel Wool Studios worker apologized to fans and promised that the team will resume development in January 2024. He hopes to share the actual release date shortly after.

And what about the Nintendo Switch version of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach – Ruin? Unfortunately, there is bad news on that front. In the middle of this year, Ray McCaffrey confessed that development for the hybrid console has not yet begun.

In the statement, the executive producer of the studio confirmed that development remains inactive, and there are still no concrete plans to work on the Nintendo Switch version. "I wish I had better news, but we want you to know what the real situation is," he commented.

Finally, Ray McCaffrey explained that the team has a roadmap for 2024 and already knows the key decisions that need to be made in the coming months.

What is Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach?

Like most entries in the saga, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is a horror video game where players must escape from animal-like animatronics. One of its characteristic elements is that the protagonist is assisted by Freddy Fazbear.

Upon its debut, this proposal received mixed reviews from players and the press. At the moment, it has a score of 64 on Metacritic. Many fans criticized changes in gameplay and technical issues. However, it has very positive reviews on Steam.
