Following this week's leak, new information about the studio's plans has emerged

It was a very challenging week for Insomniac Games, as they fell victim to a ransomware attack, resulting in the leak of over 1.6 terabytes of information related to the studio's upcoming projects and personal data of employees. Additional reports provide more context on this situation and suggest the cancellation of an online project.

As a result of the massive leak, unreleased material revealed an early version of Marvel’s Wolverine. Likewise, documents were shared that supposedly detail the release schedule for the company's upcoming games.

Among the alleged titles in development or previously in development is a multiplayer game set in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe. Now, a report from Bloomberg provides more information about this project and how the developers at the studio experienced this week's hack.

The report written by the esteemed journalist Jason Schreier confirms what is evident: the hack turned the Christmas season into a nightmare for both current and former employees of Insomniac Games. Some workers revealed that they have not yet been contacted by the studio or Sony regarding the leakage of their personal data.

The article indicates that, according to individuals familiar with the studio's internal plans, a multiplayer video game for Marvel’s Spider-Man was canceled "a long time ago." Thus, it is said that the leaked documents on the internet were old and may be outdated.

With this in mind, it seems that a considerable amount of the information leaked online as a result of the ransomware attack suffered by Insomniac Games may be inaccurate. Previously, it was stated that the aforementioned multiplayer project was a proposal similar to GTA Online. While the accuracy of this information is unknown, the report suggests that the game will never see the light of day.

After the hack, the company addressed the situation, stating that they are "sad and outraged." Although going through tough times, they confirmed that the development of Marvel’s Wolverine will continue as planned. Meanwhile, members of the gaming industry shared messages of support and condemned the illegal act by the hacker group known as Rhysida.

But tell us, what do you think of this situation? Let us know in the comments.
