The company promised a solution, but it seems it will take time.

Against all odds, Larian Studios kept their word and released Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox Series X|S this year. Unfortunately, the experience with the 2023 GOTY has not been as expected for many players due to an Xbox problem.

Since early December, there has been an issue with save files, as they sometimes get deleted for no apparent reason. As you can imagine, this is frustrating, as players can lose their games with many hours invested. The issue is that there is still no definitive solution, but Xbox has promised that they are working hard to fix it.

On December 11, Larian Studios released an update to try to fix the bug that randomly erases game saves. However, the update was not sufficient, as everything indicates that the problem lies with Xbox and not the studio.

Members of Larian confirmed that Xbox is working to solve this annoying issue, as it is at the firmware level. However, they asked for patience from players, as Microsoft's engineers are currently enjoying a well-deserved vacation.

For this reason, it is expected that the problem will be resolved at its root at some point in January. Several players have reported losing games with up to 20 hours of progress, so they demanded a solution before returning to the RPG.

"It's being worked on. It's on the firmware side, which means Microsoft engineers are still working on it. It's the holidays, so a lot of people are off, but it's still actively being investigated. People are taking it very seriously," confirmed Larian.
