Although it is one of the most important horror franchises in the history of gaming, Silent Hill remained in the shadows for many years. In October of last year, Konami announced Silent Hill 2 Remake, a new version of the 2001 classic; Silent Hill f, a new title that will present an original story set in 1960s Japan; Silent Hill: Townfall, a project by No Code and Annapurna Interactive; and Silent Hill Ascension, an interactive series. Additionally, they confirmed that a new film adaptation is in the works.
Of these projects, only Ascension was released in 2023. And yes, the reception from the community was very negative. Players criticized the monetization system and the story of this narrative game. With this in mind, when will there be news about the rest of the announced titles?
When will there be news about Silent Hill? Producer reassures fans
In an interview with the Japanese outlet 4Gamer, producer Hajime Okamoto asked fans for patience and promised updates. In addition to revealing that Silent Hill Ascension will continue, he stated that "in 2024, we will finally liven up the atmosphere with games." Unfortunately, he refused to share more details about it.
Hajime Okamoto asked fans to wait "a little longer" for news about the rest of the projects in development. With this in mind, it is likely that Konami will finally reveal more information about Silent Hill 2 Remake, and hopefully, share the release date.
Of course, the lack of news is frustrating for players. Since the announcement in 2022, the Japanese company has not officially shared more information about the new version of the 2001 game. Despite multiple rumors and clues that emerged in recent months, the release date of the remake of the 2nd installment remains a mystery.
Faced with the lack of updates, fans took to social media to demand answers. Bloober Team, the studio in charge of Silent Hill 2, issued a statement assuring that development is progressing well and according to schedule; however, they stated that it is Konami's responsibility to share news and progress.
