Takashi Kiryu, the company's president, stated that they will aggressively invest in artificial intelligence for development and distribution of their future projects. With this, they aim to improve productivity across their various departments and enhance their overall strategy.

The executive specified that they will use AI to boost the development of their content and certain aspects of their distribution-focused division. He added that Square Enix aims to be at the forefront of technology, so they will not turn their back on AI.

"We intend to be aggressive in the application of AI and other cutting-edge technologies, both for our content development and distribution functions. In the short term, our goal will be to improve our development productivity and achieve greater sophistication in our marketing efforts.

"In the long term, we hope to leverage these technologies to create new forms of content for consumers, as we believe technological innovation represents business opportunities," Kiryu commented.

Previously, Square Enix attempted to venture into the realm of NFTs and blockchain games with unfavorable results. The studio has also shown interest in the metaverse and other technologies that, for now, have not been exploited as expected.
