A few months ago, Nintendo confirmed that it is working on a live-action movie of The Legend of Zelda. To the surprise of many, the production will be the result of an alliance with Sony Pictures Entertainment, who will be in charge of distribution.

During the important tech event, Sony talked about its current projects in various industries, including film. The company is working on several productions based on its franchises, but is also busy on the project in collaboration with Nintendo.

Yoshida promised that the The Legend of Zelda film will live up to expectations by offering a story that will reflect the essence of the saga, where adventure is the most important thing. Unfortunately, no further details about the project were shared.

“We’re also excited about another IP expansion – the adaptation of Nintendo’s game franchise, The Legend of Zelda. This live-action film will deliver an amazing tale of adventure and discovery,” said the Sony executive.

While it was a brief mention, it's certainly exciting that Sony dedicated a portion of its presentation to talk about its project with Nintendo. In case you don't remember, the film is in the hands of Shigeru Miyamoto, Avi Arad, head of Arad Productions Inc. and Wes Ball, who will be directing.
