RUMOR: Nintendo has already finished the next 3D Mario

This morning has been quite eventful regarding the successor to the Nintendo Switch, as the launch window for the platform may have been leaked. However, another rumor has caught a lot of attention: the next 3D Mario has already completed its development and is ready to be released.

As you probably know, there are increasing rumors about what Nintendo plans to do in the short and medium term, especially with its next console. The community expects that one way to present it would be with a 3D Mario game.

This time, it was the leaker Zippo who claimed that such a game featuring the mustachioed plumber as the protagonist has finished development and is ready to hit the market as soon as Nintendo Switch 2 is launched.

What did Zippo say about the upcoming Mario title?

Here are the words of the leaker:

"2024 is here, and after 6 incredibly long years of waiting, I have now heard that the next Mario 3D, which will be released with Nintendo's new console, was finished during the holiday season. This is standard practice for Nintendo; many of their big games are finished long before their release. As mentioned before, this is EPD Tokyo's first full attempt at an open-world game, and it's said that the game looks absolutely amazing."

If that wasn't enough, Zippo revealed some extra details about what this installment for the new platform would include:

"Donkey Kong will appear in the game in some way. I'm not sure if he is playable, a boss, or an extended cameo of some kind. Since Mario and Donkey Kong have appeared together in almost everything lately, including the movie, LEGO sets, a new version of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and now in theme park promotions, it makes sense to continue that trend. Luigi, Peach, Captain Toad, and Pauline will also appear, although I'm not sure what roles they will play in the game."

Finally, the leaker claimed that the open world in this installment will be up to 4 times larger than what was seen in Super Mario Odyssey, making it potentially the largest Mario game in history.

It's worth mentioning that all of this is just a rumor, and we will have to stay tuned for any official announcements from Nintendo regarding the next 3D Mario game.
