With a record of over 2,000,000 simultaneous players on Steam and over 8 million copies sold, it is clear that Palworld is the game of the moment. Some claim it plagiarized Pokémon designs, making its success a subject of discussion and debate. Amidst the controversy, it was discovered that Nintendo has taken legal action against another Pokémon franchise clone.

According to Stephen Totilo from Game File (via GamesRadar+), Nintendo of America filed an opposition on January 11 against the registration of the term PokeZoo, which is linked to a card game of the same name.

Nintendo opposes PokeZoo, a blatant Pokémon clone

It is quite obvious why Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are opposed to this card game. The source of the logo presented in 2021 is very similar to that of Pokémon, and one of the creatures is almost identical to Gengar. As if that weren't enough, there is an spherical object that closely resembles a Poké Ball. Unlike Palworld, this project is a blatant clone.

According to the information, when searching for PokeZoo on the browser, multiple links appear that directly reference Pokémon. These addresses redirect to a outdated-looking website where "MetaZoo" collectible cards can be purchased. Many of the items are sold out or are being sold at exorbitant prices.

According to GamesRadar+, there is also a PokeZoo mobile game where "many beasts await you." Although it can be downloaded through Google Play, it is unknown if it is related to the card game. Of course, it is very likely that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company will take more rigorous legal actions to shut down this project in an attempt to protect their intellectual property.

Meanwhile, Palworld, the hugely successful game from Pocketpair, is already under the scrutiny of Japanese companies. In a statement, The Pokémon Company acknowledged the existence of the survival game, announced that they will conduct an investigation, and warned that they will take legal action if deemed necessary. This situation was expected, especially when considering that the company put an end to a Pokémon-inspired mod.

But tell us, what do you think of this situation? Let us know in the comments.
