Yesterday, during the State of Play event, Konami surprised fans with the announcement of Silent Hill: The Short Message, a title that had been rumored for a couple of years and is now a reality. The release brought good news, such as the fact that it is free on PS5, and it was developed by a team of Japanese creatives, including original members of Team Silent.
Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito worked on Silent Hill: The Short Message
Following the announcement and immediate release of Silent Hill: The Short Message, it was revealed that two veterans of the franchise participated in the project. The first, Akira Yamaoka, the legendary composer without whom the horror IP cannot be understood. The second, Masahiro Ito, creature designer since the first game in 1999. The Japanese creative revealed that his work in this free PS5 game is in the design of the only enemy you encounter in this story.
It is a creature with a feminine appearance, with cherry blossoms sprouting from some parts of its body. This entity pursues you in certain sections, and if it catches you, it's game over.

Masahiro Ito and Mitsunobu Ochi brought the horrifying creature to life
However, Masahiro Ito did not take all the credit for this work, as he stated that he only handled the design of the creature, while the 3D modeling and textures were the work of Mitsunobu Ochi, who is credited as the artist in charge of that enemy.
Silent Hill: The Short Message tells the story of three friends, Anita, Maya, and Amelie, who have been affected by a tragic event in a run-down neighborhood where cases of depression and suicide in young people are reported. Anita, who cannot accept the loss of one of her friends, visits the site of the tragedy only to encounter a worse nightmare.
This title is an immersive first-person horror game with exploration sections, no puzzles, and the goal is to follow the narrative. However, Konami and Hexadrive's work stands out for the detailed environments and the pursuit sections full of horror.
