Xbox and Microsoft's gaming business will undergo significant changes, as Phil Spencer, the head of the video game division of the American company, hinted. According to his post, the official announcement will take place sometime next week.

Will Xbox become cross-platform?

Phil Spencer's response comes amid a wave of reports from very reliable sources indicating an imminent change in Microsoft Gaming's strategy, resulting in the release of some exclusives on other platforms, including competitors like PlayStation and Nintendo.

Among the names of games that unofficially will arrive on PS5 are Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Halo Infinite, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and new reports suggest that Gears of War will also come to Sony's console.

The community has not taken this potential strategy change well because they believe it will erode Xbox's identity as a brand and impact players' decisions regarding whether to buy an Xbox console. So far, Microsoft's gaming business has progressed and is currently the third most important for the company, surpassing Windows. However, rumors indicate that the company needs the gaming division to generate much more revenue, and given the decline in sales of Xbox Series X|S, as well as the plateau reached by Game Pass on consoles and PC, such a significant change seems necessary.
