After several leaks and rumors, Xbox fans are excited and worried in equal measure about the future of the brand. In the most recent edition of the XboxEra podcast, the future of the brand in terms of hardware was discussed. Insider Nick Baker revealed something very interesting, as he stated that Jason Ronald, in charge of Xbox Series X|S development, will not be taking over the next Microsoft console.

This worried some gamers, as they believe that Ronald and his team did an excellent job with the company's current consoles. There are also fans who are not entirely convinced with the decision since, supposedly, the one responsible for the hardware will be the Surface team.

The community remembered some controversies related to the products of that line and, for some reason, they fear that something similar will happen with the new Xbox hardware. On the other hand, there are gamers who are excited about this possible tweak, believing that the Surface team will do a great job of design.

This report coincides with another recent report that claimed Surface will be involved in the development of a new Xbox console. Specifically, there was talk of a handheld device similar to Nintendo Switch, which would arrive alongside a traditional Xbox desktop.
