The world of video games is in mourning, as it has just lost an important creative and developer. This morning, it was reported the death of Yoshitaka Murayama, known for being the creator of Suikoden, an important RPG franchise.
According to details, the developer died last February 6 due to complications from an undisclosed illness he was already suffering from. Rabbit & Bear Studios, his company, said goodbye to the creative with an emotional message.
Yoshitaka Murayama will go down in video game history
Murayama studied computer science at the University of Tokyo and, after finishing his studies, sought his luck at Konami. This marked his future, as there he teamed up with other talented creatives and created Suikoden. The franchise was a success thanks to its attractive RPG concept and the novelties it brought to the genre. Murayama worked on the series until the third installment and then became an independent developer.
A few years ago, he founded Rabbit & Bear Studios with one goal: to create the spiritual successor to Suikoden. This is how the Eiyuden Chronicle franchise was born. Through a statement, the company said goodbye to its leader. Gamers used social media to pay a well-deserved tribute to Murayama.
"It's with a heavy heart and deep sadness we must inform you that the scenario writer and head of Rabbit & Bear Studios, Yoshitaka Murayama, has passed away on February 6th due to complications with an ongoing illness. His hard work on Eiyuden Chronicle as scenario writer was finished but as his co-workers and friends, it saddens us to know that he won't get to see the reactions from his fans.
"However, even with those feelings we need to accept the reality that he is no longer with us and continue to push his dream forward by releasing Eiyuden Chronicle to the world.
"We want to maintain his legacy and vision with this game and know that he would have wanted the rich world he has created with Eiyuden Chronicle to live on," Rabbit & Bear Studios stated.

We at LEVEL UP mourn the passing of Yoshitaka Murayama and wish the creator to find peace in his final resting place.
