Against all odds, the first live-action adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s excited fans and was a major success in theaters. After earning millions of dollars at the box office and triumphing in streaming, it's easy to think that its creators will give the green light to a sequel.

While we await more information about the status of the supposed second installment, a new clue suggests that the project is on the right track, and there may be encouraging news soon.

Filming for the Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel to start soon

The community discovered that the sequel to the horror movie appeared on the website Productionlist.com of the Film & Television Industry Alliance (FTIA), which specializes in tracking the production and development of multiple film and television projects.

According to the information, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will begin filming on July 1st of this year, which seems to indicate that Blumhouse Productions and Universal are aiming for a tentative release window of 2025. Additionally, it is indicated that the recordings will take place in New Orleans, Los Angeles, United States.

The movie's profile on the website does not reveal more details, and it seems that the data belongs to the first film. The page indicates that Emma Tammi and Jason Blum will be the director and producer, respectively. It also highlights the involvement of Scott Cawthon, the creator of the franchise's original video games.

According to the description on the specialized website, its members have access to "the most comprehensive industry production contact database and receive weekly and daily production job listings."

With this in mind, it seems that the information about the Five Nights at Freddy’s sequel comes from a reliable source; however, the intellectual property owners have not yet officially confirmed the production of the second part.

Actor Josh Hutcherson, who played Mike Schmidt in the 2023 film, broke the silence and highlighted in a recent interview that the creators want to start development of the sequel as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Ryan Turek, executive producer and vice president of films at Blumhouse Productions, stated at the beginning of 2024 that they hope to receive the green light to start production.
