Final Fantasy VII Rebirth recently became the highest rated game of 2024 so far. Likewise, it is already one of the highest-rated titles in Square Enix's popular franchise's history. Despite this, it couldn't quite crown itself, as it failed to beat another much-loved title in the saga.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth did not beat this game in the series on Metacritic
As of this writing, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth averages a 92 rating on Metacritic. For such reason, it is already one of the most outstanding releases of the year and another great achievement for the RPG franchise. Thanks to this, it was also positioned in the top 10 of the highest rated Final Fantasy in history.
The list includes beloved installments such as the original Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy VI, which share the same rating. Until yesterday, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth had a score of 93, so it surpassed these and other games in the series, and was only behind one installment, considered by many the best title in the entire franchise: Final Fantasy IX.
The title for the first PlayStation leads the list with a score of 94. This has caught the attention of gamers and fans of the saga, as they consider that it is difficult for any title to surpass what the ninth installment did.
