In early February, Sony released update 24.02-09.00.00 for PlayStation 5 in Beta phase. For such reason, it was only available to some players, who tested the new features and several improvements for DualSense. The good news is that the system update is finally available to the entire community. This morning, Sony confirmed that the update is out of Beta and that players can now update their console.

The update makes interesting tweaks to improve the various audio features of the DualSense and DualSense Edge. Specifically, their speakers will be able to sound louder and noise cancellation was optimized using artificial intelligence.

Another new feature that gamers will appreciate is the ability to adjust the brightness of the console's power indicator. Also, more functions have been added to the Groups and Screen Sharing options. Below you can see a list of all the additions:

  • The speakers of the controls can now produce a higher volume sound
  • The microphone input quality of these controllers was improved with a new AI machine learning model. The background noise produced by button presses and game audio was suppressed
  • The brightness of the PS5 power indicator can be adjusted from Settings > System > Light & Sound > Brightness
  • Players watching Screen Sharing can use pointers and emoji reactions to interact with the host's gaming experience. Viewers can use a pointer or indicate a specific location on the game screen by pinging
  • Unicode 15.1 emoji are supported. They can now be used in messages
  • DualSense and DualSense Edge, PlayStation VR2, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and Access control were updated to improve stability
