Xbox Game Pass: This AAA Game Just Arrived on the Service, but Its Departure Has Already Been Announced

Xbox Game Pass offers subscribers a large and attractive catalog that expands every week with new titles; however, the content rotation also means that some games leave the service. Unfortunately, one of the new additions has just announced that it will only be available for a few months.

Generally, games that join the Microsoft program's library remain there for about a year, which is enough time for players to give them a try. Of course, there are exceptions, and some titles leave the catalog sooner.

That's the case with NBA 2K24, a title that, despite joining the service a few days ago, has already announced that it will leave the catalog in mid-2024.

NBA 2K24 Will Leave Xbox Game Pass in August 2024

The inclusion of the basketball simulator was a pleasant surprise, as it joined the Xbox Game Pass library on March 1, 2024. Although it's not the best installment of the popular sports series, it's clear that many subscribers were encouraged to try it out for free without needing to purchase it at full price.

However, the title's days are already numbered on the subscription service. The franchise's social media account shared an image reminding that it's already available at no extra cost to all members; however, in the fine print, you can read the date it will leave the catalog.

Specifically, NBA 2K24 will no longer be available for free through Xbox Game Pass on August 31, 2024. This means that players have less than 6 months to hit the court and explore all the possibilities offered by the basketball simulator.

This situation won't surprise many. We say this because games from the sports franchise tend to last a short time in Microsoft's program ranks. Let's remember that NBA 2K20 and NBA 2K21 remained only 6 months, while NBA 2K22 was only available for 4 months. All were removed in August, shortly before the release of the latest installment.

Although this is disappointing news for many, it's worth noting that Xbox Game Pass will receive great titles in the coming months. Just in April, games like Turbo Golf Racing, Manor Lords, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, and more will debut.
