Will Mega Man Return? Post Sparks Fans' Hype

Capcom and Arika might have something up their sleeves

Mega Man remains active by Capcom, but not with new installments but with collections. Despite this, fans of the blue bomber think it's time for a new title, especially given the great moment the Japanese company is experiencing, but there's nothing but silence. However, this could change as a post sparked the hype.

Arika Executive Ignites Hype for a Possible Mega Man Return

Ichiro Mihara, vice president of the Japanese company Arika responsible for the Street Fighter EX franchise, Mega Man Network Transmission, and several projects from studios in that country, generated excitement for a possible return of Mega Man. This was in response to a post on X where the executive recalled his creative side as he once took charge of the manga of the iconic Capcom character.

Regarding this, Ichiro Mihara wrote: "I used to draw Rockman manga and create encyclopedias and books with Capcom's official illustrations, so I know a little about him."

The noteworthy aspect is that his message was accompanied by an image showing a Mega Man design that has never been seen by fans before. According to the community, the helmet design, its details, and the illuminated gaze are not part of any known version of the character in video games or other media, so they consider that the executive is hinting at something.

Mega Man dates back to 1987 and has remained active throughout all these years, but the pace of releases decreased significantly after 2000, and the latest installment of the main saga, Mega Man 11, debuted in 2018. Its spin-offs like Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero are in a similar situation, and the latest from them are collections.

So far, Capcom has not mentioned anything official about the return of the franchise, so the post from Arika's vice president should be taken with discretion.
