Over the past 3 years, PlayStation 5 has received numerous updates that added new features and, conversely, removed others. It also welcomed quality-of-life improvements that made the user experience more enjoyable. Now, it seems that one of the most-requested features by fans could be on its way.
On March 13th, Sony's next-gen console received patch 24.02-09.00.00, which adjusted the DualSense's audio functions, introduced options to modify the brightness of the power indicator, improved overall software performance, and more.
These are welcomed features, but it seems that the Japanese company has kept some surprises up its sleeve. According to a leak from a popular YouTuber, the console's menu will undergo significant changes. And yes, one of the most requested updates could be close.

PlayStation 5 Could Get Backgrounds and New Features in the Menu
Recently, YouTuber Mystic, who has 777,000 subscribers on the platform, uploaded a video showcasing the alleged new version of the Explore tab in the PlayStation 5's main menu.
According to Insider-Gaming, this update is still in Beta phase, and only users in the United States can access it. Although the images look very convincing, we recommend taking the information with a grain of salt and waiting for Sony to comment on it.
So, what are the alleged updates coming to PS5? Firstly, the Explore page on the main menu will now display trophy levels, remaining battery of headphones and the DualSense controller, game news, and available storage space.
According to Mystic, players will be able to customize the type of content they see on this tab, although it seems that changing the position of the widgets will be impossible. It will show news from games they follow, trophies earned by their friends, wishlists, the most popular titles in the regional PS Store, and much more.

This update will also allow users to change the background. Although it seems that selecting an image from a USB memory will not be possible, it will be possible to choose a screenshot saved in the console's storage.
The option to change the background is one of the most requested features by fans since the launch of the next-gen console, although it seems that it will come to PlayStation 5 with a major limitation: only the image of the Explore tab can be replaced. That means the official artworks of games and applications will still appear on the main menu. It's unknown if this will change in a future patch.

But tell us, what do you think about these updates? Let us know in the comments.
