Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is one of the most anticipated releases, as it marks the return of the Budokai Tenkaichi series after over 15 years of absence. New details about the roster of fighters and the combat system are gradually emerging, but fans wonder when it will be available in stores. The answer is unknown, but a new clue suggests that the release is near.
A few days ago, a special presentation was held in which producer Jun Furutani revealed the identity of 11 new characters and showcased the new combat mechanics. However, fans expressed frustration at the lack of news related to the release date.
Previous rumors suggest that the Spike Chunsoft studio and publisher Bandai Namco are aiming for a release in late 2024 or early 2025, but more information is unknown. Fortunately, a clue suggests that the official debut will happen sometime this year.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO already has an age rating, hinting at its near release
As discovered by user Janemba8000 on social media (via TheGamer), the official website of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has been updated and now displays the age rating. According to the regulatory body ESRB, the fighting video game will feature violence and blood, making it suitable for teenagers.
We visited the game's page and can confirm that indeed the age rating is now displayed. However, this information is notably absent on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox store.
This new clue has excited fans. Why? Typically, video games receive their first age ratings when they are close to hitting the stores. Although the official release could still be months away, the community believes the title will arrive this year and not in 2025.

The anime Dragon Ball Daima will debut in the fall, and in November, the franchise will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Therefore, it's not unreasonable to think that Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO could debut during that period; however, it's best to temper expectations and wait for an official announcement to avoid disappointment.
The game will feature a total of 164 fighters, according to the roster shown at the end of the trailers. In addition to 20 versions of Goku and Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, Hit, Kale, Broly, Cell, Frieza, and more characters will join the selectable roster.

But tell us, are you excited about this project from Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft? Do you think it will live up to the previous installments of the Budokai Tenkaichi saga? Let us know in the comments or share your opinion on our Discord.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is in development for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
