Report claims that developers do not understand the purpose of the system

According to various rumors, it is a matter of time before Sony reveals the PlayStation 5 Pro. Some gamers have serious doubts about the more powerful hardware, believing that the current PS5 still has a lot to give. Apparently, developers also have their doubts about the console overhaul. According to a recent report, creatives don't fully understand the existence of the PlayStation 5 Pro and are not excited about its release.

During the most recent edition of the GI Microcastf podcast, Chris Dring, head of the GamesIndustry.biz site, talked about his experience at Game Developers Conference (GDC), an event that was held a few days ago in California, United States.

He stated that he did not meet a single person who was excited or understood the reason for the existence of a PlayStation 5 Pro. Creatives feel similarly to certain gamers, believing that the potential of the current PS5 has yet to be fully tapped.

"Developers don’t really seem to feel they need it, at least the ones I spoke to. Many feel they’re not really making the most out of the PS5 in the first place", the journalist stated.

From his perspective, an overhaul like PlayStation 5 Pro doesn't make much sense for now, mainly since the general feeling is that the current generation hasn't fully kicked off. In this regard, developers also don't see a compelling reason to launch a revision.

"A couple of companies said this isn’t going to grow the market – it’s not going to move the needle. This generation doesn’t even seem to have got started really, let alone feel the need for a mid-generation update", Dring added.

According to various sources, the PlayStation 5 Pro will debut later this year. It will feature a few improvements in terms of potential and technology such as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, which would help games scale.
