Nintendo patent hints at possible new Switch 2 feature

Document reveals a dock different from the one we are all familiar with

Nintendo remains silent and has not shared any official clues about the successor to Switch, popularly known as Switch 2. However, all indications are that the company is making moves behind the scenes. We tell you this as an interesting patent has just come to light that could very well be related to the new console.

Due to the success of Switch, Nintendo is expected to be continuist and bet again for a hybrid console. The interesting thing about the patent is that it shows a dock or base that is somewhat different from the one we all know. For this reason, it is believed that the document could be related to Switch 2.

Nintendo patent sparks speculation about Switch 2

Nintendo's patent was published this week, specifically on April 2. It shows a dock quite similar to the Switch; however, it has an interesting new feature that could be quite useful for gamers.

The dock would feature a rotating panel on the back that would facilitate everything related to cable management and connecting the console to a TV. The panel would rotate to allow users to position the dock ports on the side that suits them best, depending on the layout of their setup.

This movable part of the dock would include the power, HDMI, LAN and USB ports. This small adjustment would improve the user experience and prevent gamers from racking their brains when managing their cables.

For many, this idea will not be applied to Nintendo Switch, as the console is already in the final stage of its active life. For this reason, it is believed that the dock with rotating panel is planned for Switch 2 and that it will be one of the novelties in terms of ergonomics.

Now, the reality is that nothing is confirmed and, moreover, the existence of the patent does not imply that the product shown will become a reality someday. Nintendo has not yet revealed official details about its next console, so it is best to wait. Below you can see an image of the patent.
