Five Nights at Freddy's: Universal Pictures confirms sequel and release date

The project was revealed at CinemaCon 2024 after months of rumors

After the tremendous box office success of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie at the end of 2023, it was almost certain that there would be a sequel. Those involved in the franchise took a long time to make the announcement, but today the official announcement of the sequel was made, and its release date is now known.

Unofficial information indicated that the sequel would begin production soon at the beginning of 2024, but apparently, the project suffered delays that would prevent it from being ready before the end of this year and in time to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the franchise. And it seems that's the case because it has just been confirmed that the movie won't be available before 2025.

When will the Five Nights at Freddy's sequel be released?

This week, CinemaCon 2024 is being held, an event where film production and distribution companies come together to showcase announcements or previews of their projects.

Universal Pictures is one of them and took the opportunity to officially announce the development of the Five Nights at Freddy's sequel and its release window.

Unfortunately, fans will have to be patient as the film has a theatrical release scheduled for fall 2025.

Considering the release of the first movie, it's likely that the sequel will have a similar release and be ready for cinemas to celebrate Halloween 2025.

Likewise, fans of the series will have to stay tuned for more information about the movie, as Universal Pictures only confirmed that the film should hit theaters in that period, but said nothing about the project's plot or initial details about the cast. Naturally, there were no teasers or promotional images.

That said, the only thing confirmed is that Blumhouse Productions will be one of the production companies, and Universal Pictures will return as the distributor. It has also been confirmed that Jim Henson's Creature Shop will once again be in charge of designing and creating the animatronics' costumes for the sequel.
