As gaming enthusiasts, many titles hold a special place in our hearts. To demonstrate our passion, sometimes we opt to buy 2 or 3 copies of those games; either to have a backup on another platform or simply to financially support the developers; however, one player took her fandom to the next level.

Undoubtedly, Alan Wake was one of the most beloved horror titles during the Xbox 360 generation. With a memorable story and characters, it's no wonder it has a large fanbase around it. Additionally, we're sure its 2023 sequel added more fans to the franchise.

Although the game developed by Remedy Entertainment is already a cult classic, it's hard to imagine someone buying 4000 copies. As incredible as it may seem, that's exactly what one devoted player did.

Alan Wake Fan Buys 4000 Copies for $240 USD

In an interview with PCGamesN, player Alisa, who is an audiovisual technician and a huge fan of Alan Wake, shared her astonishing story and explained why she became a fan of the franchise in the first place. She says she enjoyed the first title immensely due to its "absurd attention to detail" and didn't hesitate to affirm that Sam Lake is a genius.

During the conversation, the fan explains that she saw an unusual listing on eBay where someone was selling 2 boxes full of promotional cards, each with a download code for Alan Wake. Without hesitation, she bought the package for $240 USD and now owns, nothing more and nothing less, than 4000 copies of the horror video game.

"I imagine these download cards come from a game store that closed at some point and that, for one reason or another, had too many Alan Wake download cards on its shelf. The cards came in 2 cardboard boxes that suffered some damage in the month it took to arrive from the United States to Finland," explains the fan.

However, Alisa got a surprise when the package arrived at her home. The thing is, she tried 20 codes, but none of them worked. She contacted Microsoft's customer service department and they told her that those cards were never activated by the store when they were purchased and that they are likely over 10 years old.

So, this staunch player has 4000 useless codes from the original Alan Wake release for Xbox 360. Why did she decide to buy the packages in the first place? She thought it would be fun, but she also has an interesting idea for a short film where she could use the cards for a scene.

"I'm currently in the process of making a video for Alan Wake II fans inspired by live-action cinematics. As soon as I saw the eBay listing for the 4000 cards, I realized I had a vision in my mind for a scene that would use an absurd amount of those things," Alisa commented.

Once she finishes filming that material, the player plans to use the cards to decorate and cover a wall in her room.
